Brew: Left Hand Deep Cover
Style: Brown Ale
Location: Longmont, CO
First Impressions: The detective on the front is slightly mysterious but it makes for good marketing. One major concern of mine was that the Bottled On date was intentionally left blank. The color was a rusty brown copperish tone.
Aroma: Inviting but not to powerful, appealing, carmelly and nutty.
Overall Taste: The beer went down smooth and maintained the same golden taste from beginning to end. I have tried some of the other Left Hand’s and this one was a slight let down. The flavor was that of a typical brown ale with roasted malts and caramel. One thing I did not like about the Deep Cover is that the flavor was not strong enough. If you’re going to give me a good tasting beer I expect the damn thing to have some giddy up. In conclusion, the brown ale was an average beer that was smooth tasting but too flat.
